Monica was born in Mississippi and raised in Alabama. She currently resides in Houston, Texas and is pursuing her BFA in Photography and Digital Media at the University of Houston. Monica’s work is heavily influenced by her upbringing and her life experiences. She works in a variety of mediums from painting to installation and video. She also has a special place in her heart for analogue photography and always carries around film and her olympus pen half frame camera. Maggie Blanchard recently named her the 2016 Honorable mention for the Carol Crow Fellowship at the Houston Center for Photography. Her work has been shown at Aurora Picture Show, The Blaffer Museum of Art, and The Menil.
